Being away from the Philippines for quite some time now, every so often I crave an authentic Filipino dish. Unfortunately, my schedule does notpermit me to cook so I am reduced to looking for a Filipino restaurant here in South Florida. It is a happy coincidence there is one near my mother’s place called Meng-Li’s.

I have always been a big fan buffet style restaurants. Buffets provide something for every type of eater to enjoy. The Ginza Japanese buffet opened roughly six months ago in Boynton Beach, FL. I have been meaning to try it for quite some time, and it is near my mother’s house but scheduling conflicts prevented me from going. Recently, I finally had the time to experience Ginza first hand.

Every once in a while, being a Filipino, I crave for my hometown food. I can cook most of the dishes, the only problem is, it takes a long time for most of it to cook and I usually cook in huge quantities (my mother was the one who taught me to cook large portions. lol!). Since there are only a few Filipinos living in my area, the only way for me to have instant access to cooked Filipino food is to go south in Fort Lauderdale near the port area.

Japanese food has always been expensive. This is justified because they use the freshest ingredients (fruits and vegetables and sushi). Japanese restaurants offer a unique presentation of their food. Each dish resembles a work of art. On the downside, when you eat Japanese food, there never seems to be a large enough portion. The solution for one’s endless appetite for Japanese food is to go to a Japanese buffet!
